STAYING AT HOME

It’s been months since I was able to blog and read others blog posts that make me laugh, make me cry and bring me encouragement. Lots has happened.

I shared with you that my daughter had Ovarian Cancer last year for the second time. Well, on December 19, 2019 she was declared cancer-free again! What a blessing! Because of the chemotherapy she took, her immune system is vulnerable. She is staying at home during this COVID-19 Pandemic and thank God so far, so good.

My husband and I both are feeling our ages, we’re both in our middle 60s.  He has difficulties, but takes great care of me because I got a bum knee. I was supposed to have it replaced next week Tuesday, but that was canceled. I’ll wait.  We sit around here and laugh and joke and play and talk like we’re teens. It’s been fun!  Sometimes we do more than play like young people; we really enjoy each other like we used to. Nuf said.  Yep, we are staying at home.

The Lorax quote

That grandson, Jonathan, whose journey I’ve shared with you all was one of the happiest teens ever when he heard that he wouldn’t be going to school for the rest of the school year. He really smiled about that. Then the school work began coming across online. He still smiles, but since his work is definitely due at certain times of the week, the smile isn’t as big. He’s driving his granddad and me around all the time, taking us everywhere. He was until the order to stay at home came. But he’s doing fine. He’s staying at home.

Since we’ve had this extra time to be together, we’ve caught up with family and friends on social media and on the phone. We’ve laughed and talked about anything and everything even more.  We have really stopped and taken time to look at each other and rediscover why we love each other.  Staying at home ain’t that bad!

Here’s a picture of Jonathan and his granddad from March 8th (he’s 15) a little before the stay at home order.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU ALL!

vintage-christmas-card-merry-christmas-lettering_gkm9-koo_l

To all of you I want to say a heart-felt Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

So, I must confess that this year has had its share of challenges for our family and relatives, too. But I also have to say that we  have made it this far into the year, and we’re looking at the end of 2016 and glimpsing the beginning of 2017. It stands to reason that God has brought us each and every day of this trying year to this very day.

I think that if He carries us further, we’ll be able to weather the storms that may be ahead of us; and bask in the times of refreshing that lie ahead, as well.

So from my family to your family, God bless you and have a wonderful holiday season. Make sure to hug someone and genuinely smile.

Don’t be bullied by this politically correct atmosphere, please. Christmas is a time of family, friends, laughter, crying and more.

Always remember, too that….

JONATHAN’S WAY CHAPTER 7

JONATHAN HAS 3 AUNTS!

Johanna, Jennifer, Erika

Johanna, Jennifer, Erika

Erika, Jennifer, and Johanna are their first names. All of them are in their mid to upper 30s. So, when I tell you that they should have grown out of rivalry, I think that they should have. That truly isn’t the case. When Christmas time comes around instead of the smell of pine cones and peppermints and mistletoe and egg nog, there is the smell of blood between two of his aunts. They vie to give him the best gift. Not necessarily the most expensive gift, but truly the best gift. I stay far away from that feud! But there can’t be any three aunts who love their nephew more than these three love him. He is covered and surrounded by the love of adults, as he is the only child among them. He can truly bask in their love. It makes my job a bit more pleasant, especially when they come and get him and take him places with them. I couldn’t ask for better aunts for him. If money is needed, and they have it, there is nothing that they won’t do for him. He is blessed with aunts who spend time with him.

Erika, his oldest aunt has been his constant playmate. Since he cannot act as if he is 30 something, she acts like she is an 11-year-old kid. Truth!

Jennifer, Erika’s rival is loving and dotes on him. She thinks she can take my place. Please do, I say from time to time. She is tender-hearted and protective of him.

Jen and Jonathan at Xmas

Jen and Jonathan

Johanna, is Jennifer’s twin and the younger of the two. She,  of all of them knows how Jonathan thinks. She and Jonathan have checked out many a cartoon DVD and cartoon movie. She is able to identify with him.
